| Abstract: | É notória, cada vez mais, a necessidade de as pessoas se deslocarem paraqualquer atividade que desempenhem, quer seja nas suas deslocações diárias parao trabalho ou para a escola, quer seja uma simples ida às compras ou até umaviagem de lazer. Nesse sentido, o sector dos transportes desempenha um papelcrucial no desenvolvimento da sociedade contemporânea.O programa Erasmus+ oferece, aos estudantes, a oportunidade de vivenciar umaexperiência transformativa, tanto a nível pessoal como académico e, aliado a isso,um crescimento acentuado nas mesmas áreas. Para tal, estes estudantes têm deviajar entre as diversas universidades parceiras deste programa.Esta dissertação explora o facto de as viagens de longa distância contribuíremsignificativamente para as emissões de CO2 e de isto estar associado a umimpacto ambiental negativo. Sendo este o tipo de viagens realizadas pelosestudantes do programa ERASMUS é importante compreender qual a pegada decarbono a eles associada.Para além disso, as deslocações dentro da cidade onde se encontram, representatambém grande parte da mobilidade destes indivíduos. Como, quando, quantasvezes o fazem, são algumas das questões que se colocam e que se pretenderesponder com este estudo.O objetivo desta investigação passa então por entender os hábitos de mobilidadedos estudantes de ERASMUS, tanto em longa como curta distância, de maneiraa perceber como será possível melhorar a sua pegada de carbono.A procura de novas ideias e novas experiências conjuntamente com a análise deoutras soluções duradoras são o primeiro passo para promover odesenvolvimento do conhecimento nesta área.Inicialmente foram partilhados inquéritos relativos aos hábitos de mobilidade,com os estudantes de Erasmus, um anterior e um posterior aos vídeos realizadoscom informações relativas a opções de mobilidade em Portugal para perceber adiversidade de respostas nas diferentes fases. No primeiro inquérito foramobtidas 56 respostas e no segundo apenas 15.Posteriormente, através de uma metodologia EMEP/EEA foram calculadas asemissões de CO2 e NOx para cada par origem-destino, relativas ao transporteaéreo e, ainda dentro da mesma metodologia, pelo programa Copert, calcularam-se as emissões relativas ao transporte rodoviário. Através da plataformaEcoPassenger calcularam-se as emissões relativas ao transporte ferroviário.Foram calculadas estas emissões para um total de 101 pares origem-destino.Por fim, foi possível observar que os estudantes de Erasmus têm hábitossustentáveis ao nível da mobilidade diária, mas menos sustentáveis ao nível dasviagens de longa e média distância. A partilha da informação relativa às opçõesdisponíveis em Aveiro e em todo o país também ajudaram a melhorar algunshábitos dos estudantes envolvidos.People are increasingly aware of the need to travel for any activity they perform,whether it's their daily commute to work or school, a simple shopping trip oreven a leisure trip. In this sense, the transport sector plays a crucial role in thedevelopment of contemporary society.The Erasmus+ program offers students the opportunity to have a transformativeexperience, both on a personal and academic level, and to grow in the same areas.To do this, these students have to travel between the various partner universitiesof this program.This dissertation explores the fact that long-distance travel contributessignificantly to CO2 emissions and that this is associated with a negativeenvironmental impact. As this is the type of travel undertaken by ERASMUSstudents, it is important to understand their associated carbon footprint.In addition, travel within the city where they are also represents a large part oftheir mobility. How, when and how often they do it are some of the questionsthat arise and that this study aims to answer.The aim of this research is to understand the mobility habits of ERASMUSstudents, both long-distance and short-distance, in order to understand how itmight be possible to improve their carbon footprint.The search for new ideas and new experiences, together with the analysis of otherlasting solutions, is the first step in promoting the development of knowledge inthis area.Initially, surveys on mobility habits were shared with Erasmus students, onebefore and one after the videos were made with information on mobility optionsin Portugal, in order to understand the diversity of responses in the differentphases. In the first survey, 56 responses were obtained and in the second only15.Subsequently, using an EMEP/EEA methodology, CO2 and NOx emissionswere calculated for each origin-destination pair for air transport and, using thesame methodology, using the Copert program, emissions were calculated forroad transport. Emissions from rail transport were calculated using theEcoPassenger platform. These emissions were calculated for a total of 101origin-destination pairs.Finally, it was possible to observe that Erasmus students have sustainable habitsin terms of daily mobility, but less sustainable habits in terms of long- andmedium-distance travel. Sharing information about the options available inAveiro and across the country also helped to improve some of the habits of thestudents involved. |
