Blacklick Valley 8, Ferndale 3: In Nanty Glo, Hayden Williams struck out 12 batters in a complete game as the Vikings swatted the Yellow Jackets.

Blacklick Valley’s Alex Reba produced two hits, including a double, and scored twice. Drew McEvoy scored three times.

Ferndale’s Aedan Hrivnak (two runs) and Connor Hrivnak (three RBIs) each provided two hits.

Penn Cambria 4, Richland 0: In Lilly, Ryan Hanlon tallied eight strikeouts over six scoreless innings as the Panthers handed the Rams their first loss of the season.

Caden Gibbons – who scored twice, stole two bases and doubled – struck out two in the seventh to finish off the shutout.

Derek Hite led Penn Cambria with two hits. Preston Farabaugh and Easton Semelsberger each doubled. Four different Panthers drove in a run.

Finnegan Bradley led Richland with two hits. Luke Raho doubled.

Homer-Center 5, Cambria Heights 4 (10): In Homer City, Nash Budner singled through the left side to score Drew Fisher with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Wildcats handed the Highlanders their first loss of the season.

Homer-Center’s Brayden Rado contributed three hits. Owen Saiani added two hits and two stolen bases. Caleb Palmer fanned nine batters over 5 2/3 innings. Budner threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings in relief and totaled four strikeouts.

Cambria Heights’ Garrett Jasper accounted for three hits. Carson Lobick added two knocks and two stolen bases, and Ethan Kline doubled.

Somerset 2, Bishop Carroll Catholic 0: In Somerset, Callen Miller homered among his two hits, while Colt Hagans and Lane Lambert combined on a shutout to propel the Golden Eagles over the Huskies.

Lambert doubled and pitched the final two innings. Hagans struck out five batters over the first five frames.

Luke Repko provided two hits for Bishop Carroll. Cullen Myers doubled. Jacob Gregg allowed two runs over six innings.

Windber 5, Berlin Brothersvalley 1: In Windber, Mason Horner went 3-for-3, while Lucas Rummel fanned seven batters without issuing a walk in a complete game as the Ramblers beat the Mountaineers.

Windber’s Andrew Scalia produced two hits, including a triple and two RBIs. Logan Serenko added two knocks and two runs scored.

Levi Leonard drove in Berlin Brothersvalley’s lone run in the fifth.

River Valley 7, Portage 6: In Blairsville, the Panthers tallied three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge the Mustangs. Zeke Doak produced a walk-off two-run single.

River Valley’s Caden Vresilovic homered and drove in two runs. Gavin Burkhart, Doak (two RBIs) and Merreck Smith each provided two hits. Niko Vadala fanned eight batters over the final five frames.

Portage’s Connor Binaut, Jake McCoy and Easton Slanoc produced two hits apiece. McCoy, Justin Morgan and Slanoc each homered.

North Star 18, Meyersdale 0 (4): In Meyersdale, Glendon Griffith went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs at the plate, while allowing one single and striking out nine batters over four scoreless frames as the Cougars clawed past the Red Raiders.

North Star’s Connor Yoder finished 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and three RBIs.

Vance Kimmel (double, two RBIs), Braden Livingston (three runs, two stolen bases) and Nolan Weible each provided two knocks.

Meyersdale’s Carter Vogt singled.

Conemaugh Township 12, Marion Center 3: In Marion Center, Zack Petree went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs at the plate, while fanning six batters in a complete-game victory to propel the Indians over the Stingers.

Conemaugh Township received two hits each from D.J. Bambino (four stolen bases, three runs), Colin Dinyar (double, two RBIs) and Luke Haight (two RBIs). Larry Weaver doubled, stole two bases and scored three times.

Marion Center’s Trent Slovinsky went 3-for-4. Isaac Reaugh doubled among his two hits.

Curve Classic

Central 13, Northern Cambria 1 (5): In Altoona, an eight-run fourth inning helped the Scarlet Dragons hammer the Colts at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Central’s Mason Sparks did not allow a hit over five innings and totaled six strikeouts. Wyatt Dilling went 3-for-3 with a double. Troy McNichol added two hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Baron Dionis and Britton Marko each doubled among their two knocks. Mason Byler singled twice. Jay Hoenstine and Hunter Smith (double) plated two runs apiece. Lukas Black drove in three runs.

Northern Cambria’s Brady Hoover scored in the fifth.

Wednesday

Blacklick Valley 18, Harmony 2 (5): In Westover, Alex Reba fanned eight batters in five innings as the Vikings beat the Owls. Logan Kaschalk (two RBIs, two runs) and Jake Noble (two runs) each provided two knocks. Rylan Garver drove in a pair of runs.

Harmony’s Jace Nihart and Jarrod Sward each drove in a run.

Paw Paw 3, Turkeyfoot Valley 1: In Paw Paw, West Virginia, Ayden Crabtree tripled and scored at the plate and struck out 16 batters over six innings on the mound as the Pirates beat the Rams. Tomy Santos picked up the save in the seventh.

Paw Paw’s Greyson Corbett singled twice and scored. Ashby Abe doubled.

Turkeyfoot Valley’s Zack Ryan totaled 11 strikeouts and allowed one earned run in six innings. Bryce Nicholson scored in the top of the first inning. Nicholson and Ryan recorded Turkeyfoot Valley’s only hits.

Softball

Berlin Brothersvalley 8, Windber 7 (8): In Windber, the Mountaineers’ Coral Prosser went 2-for-5 with a triple, while Elena Ritchey struck out 12 batters and homered to lift their squad over the Ramblers.

Berlin Brothersvalley’s Elsie Barna added two hits and two runs.

Windber’s Rylee Baer finished 3-for-4 with a triple. Nici Costlow and Skylee Miller produced two knocks apiece. Layla Gray drove in a pair of runs.

Richland 6, Penn Cambria 1: Sophia Burke went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs, while Carissa Weld fanned nine batters and allowed one run in a complete game as the host Rams topped the Panthers. Weld added two hits, including a double.

Richland’s Haley Dunlap contributed two hits and two runs. Bella Marguccio tripled and scored twice.

Penn Cambria’s Patty Wagner tallied two hits and struck out 12 batters over six innings in the circle.

Ferndale 16, Blacklick Valley 13 (8): In Nanty Glo, Deajah Chatman had four hits – including a home run, four runs scored and four RBIs – to help the Yellow Jackets outslug the Vikings. Ferndale, which scored six runs in the eighth inning before warding off the hosts in the bottom of the frame, saw Aubrielle Leverknight (11 strikeouts in the circle) drive in five runs while posting three hits and scoring thrice.

Mollie Moschgat and Maisen Sechrengost also had three hits for the Yellow Jackets.

Blacklick Valley was led at the plate with three knocks from Josie Nedrich, who along with Abigail Mourey and Olivia McQuay, drove in two runs apiece.

River Valley 3, Portage 0: In Blairsville, Sara Bollinger fanned five batters in a five-hit shutout as the Panthers beat the Mustangs. Bollinger and Lillian Buckles each drove in a run. Buckles had River Valley’s lone hit.

Portage’s Tori Harrison contributed two hits. Kiera McCarty doubled. Payton Noll allowed three unearned runs over the first three innings, and Paige Phillips tossed three scoreless frames.

Meyersdale 17, North Star 1 (3): In Meyersdale, Laurel Daniels blasted two homers and drove in five runs as the Red Raiders romped the Cougars. Zoe Hetz also homered among her two hits and plated two runs.

Jessica Daughton, Izabella Donaldson, Amber Long and Morgan Walters provided two knocks apiece.

Ligonier Valley 2, Southmoreland 1: In Ligonier, Cheyenne Piper held the Scotties at bay with 11 strikeouts and three hits allowed as the Rams warded off their guests.

Sydnee Foust and Neve Dowden each had a run batted in for Ligonier Valley.

Southmoreland’s Taylor Doppelhauer drove in her team’s lone run in the seventh.

West Shamokin 13, Conemaugh Valley 1 (5): In Rural Valley, Avery Elkin doubled twice among her three hits, and Leah Mondi provided a pair of two-baggers as the Wolves sprinted past the Blue Jays.

Conemaugh Valley’s Kylee Ferguson (run) and Isabella Winkleman each singled.

Purchase Line 9, Northern Cambria 7: In Commodore, Brooklynn Walker tripled among her two hits and drove in four runs as the Red Dragons beat the Colts.

Kaitlyn Houser added two knocks and a pair of stolen bases, and Kadance Nedrow plated a pair of runs for the victors.

Northern Cambria’s Alexa Fox went 3-for-4 with a double. Skye Bernecky, Makayla Formeck and Rylee Stine each tallied two hits.

Lainey Vasil homered and drove in two runs. Megan Lubert doubled, and Braelyn Pattison tripled.
