Fate: Shadow Walker - Chapter 17 - KingJohn (2024)

Chapter Text

“Maverick, Jeanne, be wary!” Heracles shouts as he fires more arrows, with his shots hitting and interrupting the dragon he shot at. As for Maverick and Jeanne, after being spared the fate of being squashed by the beast, the two continue to stare at it.

“Je- Jeanne.” Maverick calls, frowning at the woman while he calls, and his words prompt her to look down, gritting her teeth as she does. He stares at this sight, before Heracles again calls his and Jeanne’s name.

At the call, the young man grits his teeth before he holds Jeanne’s hand, and as the woman stares at him, he goes on.

“Jeanne!”

At his roar, the young woman continues to stare, before she takes a deep breath. After she does, she turns to the dragon, and flames proceed to rise around her and Maverick.

As his surroundings burn, with regular fire rather than black, Maverick swears he hears something. What it is, however, it is not something he pays attention to. Instead, his attention remains on the dragon in front of him and Jeanne.

As it does, Jeanne’s flames move, surrounding and covering the dragon in front of her and Maverick, and as that happens, she begins to chant.

“O, rage and despair, boil, rise, get set aflame.” After speaking, she raises her sword, and as the dragon being consumed by her flame roars, Heracles speaks before she can.

“No! Jeanne, pursue Caster! I shall handle the remaining enemies!”

At his words, Maverick’s eyes widen. “Enemies?” After he speaks, both he and his Servant turn around, and while the beast consumed by Jeanne’s fire continues to squirm, the flame user and her Master continue to watch the scene in front of them.

Knights, armored and mounted, surround Heracles, riding at him and striking with spears. Luckily, the Greek hero possesses a cape, one made of a golden lion, with the beast’s head serving as a helmet while the rest of it is used to block incoming attacks.

“You two! Caster! Now!” Diamandis’ roar comes from Maverick’s wristband, but the Berserker duo continue to watch the mage’s Servant fight. “J- Jeanne.” Maverick calls, and as she frowns at him, he smiles at her, prompting her to sigh before she turns back to the dragon in front of them.

“Burn it all! Le grondement de la haine!”

After Jeanne’s cry, her flames fully cover the dragon they wreathe, and while the victim roars, the fire continues to flicker.

“Okay. Let’s go.” Maverick says, and he and his Servant proceed to run, ignoring the fire burning beside them as they do. At the same time, while both of their hearts race, they do their best to also ignore the battle they are currently running away from.

However, a shout from their ally changes things.

“Maverick, Jeanne, the dragon!”

At the call, the two turn, and as they proceed to stare, Maverick feels strength course through him. So, he runs, before he then pushes Jeanne to the side.

As a result, instead of her, the dragon’s tail, still burning, rams into him.

It was but a moment. As if when he first met Heracles. Unimaginable pain. A powerful force that could tear him in half. Then, nothing.

As Maverick crashes into the floor, the dragon, having been shot by Heracles when it attacked, stumbles, and the woman initially targeted by the beast stares.

Bent unnaturally, Maverick remains on the floor, unmoving, a sight Jeanne simply stares at.

“Argh!!!!!” Heracles shouts, and after he does, as Uathach runs at him, instead of nocking an arrow, he stabs her with the projectile. With the arrow being giant, it is as if Uathach is impaled on a spear, and as she gasps for air, Heracles throws the projectile to the side, with her also being thrown aside.

“Archer!” Diamandis, while unseen, shouts, but the demigod pays him no heed. Instead, while glaring and gritting his teeth, he eyes the dragon.

With Jeanne still staring at Maverick, the beast gets ready to squash her with one of its claws. Luckily, before it can, Heracles throws his bow at the beast stopping it.

It is then gunfire sounds, and after Heracles turns over, Saber, while holding his rifle, speaks.

“Shi-”

Before the fencer-gunman can finish, Heracles appears by his side. In response, the fencer turns to run, but before he can, Heracles lets out a roar.

The explosion of sound shakes Saber to his core, but he can still feel himself move. Namely, with a grenade in hand, he gets ready to pull the pin, only to freeze before he can.

“Mas-”

Before Saber can finish, Heracles grabs him, the giant’s right hand wrapped around the fencer’s torso, before throwing him across the air.

So, as the dragon again readies to squash Jeanne, Saber hits and stops him. Saber then crashes onto the floor, before the dragon’s foot then lands on him.

Namely, the beast advances, paying no heed to the fencer it stepped on.

Instead, the beast roars, and Heracles does the same. Then, both of them advance on one another, Heracles glaring at the beast as he moves.

As all this happens, Jeanne continues staring at the unmoving Maverick, only speaking when seeing someone approach him, still wide eyed while she does so.

“He… help him…”

At her words, a hooded woman, who is covered up, watches her, with a knight joining the stranger. Said stranger then kneels down beside Maverick, and after she does, while Jeanne continues staring at Maverick, the knight, while covered up like his companion, continues to watch Jeanne.

“Uathach, no matter what you do, do not fight him.” The woman’s Master says as the woman stares at what unfolds in front of her. The dragon, having swallowed Heracles, now squirms, before its belly then bursts open.

Then, as some of the crimson splash on Uathach, completely covering her, Heracles exits from the hole he made. The beast he bursted out of falls to the floor as he does, and the demigod then glares at Uathach.

“Wa… Wa-”

Before Uathach can finish, Heracles disappears before reappearing in front of her. Seeing this, she falls to her knees, staring at the demigod as she does, and the demigod, with his bow still gone, raises his hand.

“U… urgh…” A groan, and as Uathach continues staring at Heracles, the ground beneath her wet as she does, the demigod’s gaze moves. On the floor, his limbs limp like noodles, Saber lies. At the sight, Heracles begins to walk, with Uathach continuing to stare at where the demigod stood.

Soon, the demigod stands in front of Saber. “Her… Hercules…” As Saber speaks, the Greek demigod, with both hands, holds him by legs. Namely, one hand holds onto one leg, and while lifted into the air, Saber goes on.

“P… Please… I… I surren-” Before he can finish, Heracles pulls at his legs, and the fencer shouts before he is ripped in half, his blood painting the floor red.

“Ar… Artoria…” Caster’s Master says as she and the girl watch Heracles, who continues to hold onto the two halves of Saber. “Do not fret, Miss Adda.” The girl, Artoria, answers, glaring at Heracles as she does.

Meanwhile, gold light shines next to Heracles, and from it, a man appears. Caucasian like the Greek hero, the man has long white hair, and while dressed in white robes, the man holds a peculiar wooden staff.

Namely, the carving of a snake coils around the item’s upper tip.

“Is that…” ‘Miss Adda’ says while she stares at the newcomer, with her Servant continuing to glare at Heracles. As for the demigod, he gives the body in his hand, both parts of it, to the newcomer, who sighs.

“All right. Arrange the pie-” Before the newcomer, who spoke in a foreign tongue, can finish, a red gas appears around Heracles, who grunts upon being touched.

After which, Heracles begins to squirm, dropping Saber’s body as he does, with Caster smiling as he does so. “Caster, I assume?” The newcomer says, with Caster’s Master then addressing him, frowning while she speaks.

“You are Asclepius, aren’t you? How could you manifest?” “The matter is complicated. Rather than that, I wish to warn you about-”

Before Asclepius can finish, Heracles vanishes, and the eyes of Caster’s Master widen. Then, she turns to her Servant, but before she fully turns over, she hears the girl scream.

After which, after fully turning over, she finds the girl torn in half.
