Creamy Whipped Feta Dip recipe (1)

Creamy Whipped Feta Dip may not sound like an overly impressive dish. It may sound like just another dip to make for a party. But I promise you, it’s so much more than that! My Creamy Whipped Feta dip recipe just tastes is one of those things I could eat every single day. I love the flavor, the texture and the way I can pair it with vegetables, pita or even meat to take it all to the next level.

Why feta?

Full disclosure, feta on it’s own is not generally my favorite kind of cheese. I’m much more partial to goat cheese because it’s creamier. However, in this recipe Feta cheese wins my heart. When mixing the crumbly, salty feta cheese with some smooth extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice and sour cream, it becomes a truly incredible flavor combination. I could seriously eat this dip every single day and I don’t think I would grow tired of it.

Creamy Whipped Feta Dip recipe (2)When to serve it…

So, while I call this a dip and that might sound like it’s meant to be an appetizer (it totally is), I’ve also made this to eat for lunch. I think it’s a lovely light lunch with a bunch of vegetables and one or two pitas. It’s filling and gives you a meatless lunch option too.

That said, this would also make a great after school snack if you have kiddos that love feta. I know my kids are 100 percent more likely to eat cucumbers or broccoli if I have them laid out with some kind of delicious dip after school than if they scrounge for a bag of pretzels. (Oh! Pretzels would be so good with this!)

Anyways, that’s my long way of saying that while I developed this recipe to be an easy appetizer, it’s really so much more.

How to make Whipped Creamy Feta Dip

This recipe is one of the easiest recipes you will ever make. There’s no actual cooking involved. It’s basically taking a few high quality ingredients and blending them together and then making it look a little fancy with garnishes. This whole recipe takes less than 10 minutes and the actual whipping of the dip takes 1 minute…maybe.

I make the Creamy Whipped Feta Dip in my express chop {HERE}. This is my favorite, quick, little chopper and I use it for everything from salad dressings to salsa.

First, you will want to gather your ingredients. The basic ingredients for this dip include feta, extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, sour cream, lemon zest and sea salt and fresh cracked pepper.

What to serve with Creamy Whipped Feta Dip

For the dippers, I like to serve this with Naan. You can make it on your own or you can buy it from the store. In this case I bought mine and then I put it in the oven with a little olive oil for about 7 minutes to get it more crispy. It made for perfect dippers!

Vegetables of all kinds are also delicious with this dip. I like crispier vegetables best like cucumbers, carrots, celery and peppers. But even things like tomatoes artichokes and olives would work too!

I top this Creamy Whipped Feta Dip with dill, fresh parsley, a little more olive oil and some simple crispy Garlic Roasted Chickpeas. I love the crunch and the flavor they add to the dip. You can find my recipe for Garlic Roasted Chickpeas {HERE}.

Tips for making my Creamy Whipped Feta Dip Recipe

  • Better feta yields a better dip. Get the best feta you can find to make sure the main ingredient is truly delicious.
  • Use the highest quality extra virgin olive oil you can find. Also, for the best results.
  • Use seas salt as suggested. It will give you a better overall flavoring.
  • I make my Creamy Whipped Feta Dip recipe with sour cream, but you can also make this with Greek Yogurt too. It’s a 1 for 1 substitution.
  • Do use fresh herbs where the recipe calls for it.

Storage and saving

You can make my Creamy Whipped Feta Dip up to three days in advance and you can save it for three days after making it. I do not recommend freezing it.

I do recommend removing it from the refrigerator about an hour before you want to use it so the extra virgin olive oil in the recipe has time to come to room temperature.
